Sarah’s been known as many things over the years:
- 5th generation Wisconsinite
- Small business owner
- Fiscal watchdog
- Working mom
- Wisconsin State Treasurer
- Outdoor adventurer
- Packers shareholder
Now, she’s ready to roll up her sleeves as your next U.S. Senator.
Born and raised in Eau Claire
By two public school teachers, Sarah learned early that there’s nothing a little western Wisconsin elbow grease and can-do attitude can’t get done.
Sarah learned how to make every penny count while waiting tables at Pizza Hut and Bakers Square to help pay for college.
As a young woman, she spent many years working with the Pentagon to improve ways the military supports our troops, and helped save taxpayers money by rooting out wasteful spending.
Sarah’s passion for public service
Led to her meeting her husband, Max, when they served together on the board of UNICEF USA bringing food, education, and opportunity to kids everywhere.
Sarah and Max launched their own small business called MaSa Impact to help make a difference in our communities – investing in renewable energy projects, Main Street start-ups, and women-owned businesses.
But in the state capitol
Sarah saw that Wisconsin values and fiscal responsibility were under attack. Scott Walker and Republicans were trying to eliminate the state’s fiscal watchdog. So Sarah fought back – and won:
- Beat Walker’s effort to eliminate the State Treasurer
- Elected as Wisconsin’s fiscal watchdog
- Ended the Republican gag order on climate change
- Supported funding for renewable energy and small business
- Delivered record funding for books and tech in school libraries
- Leads an initiative to boost homeownership and retirement security
Sarah’s never been afraid to stand up for what she believes in.
And right now, Washington is broken, and Ron Johnson has completely lost touch with the reality facing workers and families across Wisconsin.
Sarah’s going to focus on the kitchen table issues that matter to Wisconsin families.
In her free time,
You can find Sarah enjoying the outdoors and cheering on the Brewers, Badgers, Bucks, and Packers (as a proud shareholder!) with her husband Max, son Hartley, and their rescue dog Tanner.
